A quick guide for how to use essential oils at home.
Essential oils have a very small compound size which allows them to penetrate the skin and pass into the bloodstream, and into different areas of the body for internal therapeutic benefits.
Most air fresheners available to purchase for your home at the moment are extremely harmful to our bodies and the environment. Essential Oils are an excellent alternative which won’t affect you, your family or your pets. You do need to make sure you are purchasing only pure, high-quality essential oils for this to be the case. Make sure to check if your chosen essential oils are safe if you’re currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
Medically, there is great evidence that essential oils are absorbed into the bloodstream when inhaled. A large number of blood vessels in the lungs absorb the oils and then circulate them throughout the body. Using a diffuser is the easiest way to experience the benefits of essential oils aromatically. Or some people prefer the look of oil burners with a tea light underneath.
Essential oils can be used as a very effective form of medicine but it should be remembered that they are powerful. Most essential oils are safe for internal use but a little bit goes a long way. Usually 1–3 drops is plenty mixed with a glass of water. Some oils could be mixed directly with the water before digestions, others need to be diluted with a carrier oil first. If you’re currently on any specific medication, make sure to check with a healthcare professional if the essential oils you’ve chosen are safe to use at the same time, as your medicine.
Many beauty and care products today have essential oils as an ingredient. Either due to its properties or to avoid harmful artificial fragrances.
